Dear colleage,

We are sending you this message to bring you up-to-date regarding preparations for Photonex 2013 in Coventry.

IN THE NEWS: The Photonex Exhibition and Conference brings together different sectors in a cross-disciplinary two-day extravaganza of photonics and light technologies.

The UK’s showcase event dedicated to photonics; applied optical equipment, biophotonics, components, fibre optics, imaging, lasers, sensing, spectroscopy, sub-contract services, vision & LIGHT will be held in the third week in October on the 16th & 17th October. The venue will be the Ricoh Arena in Coventry.

Photonics finds ever more uses in research, industry and in the consumer environment. Photonics technologies are of increasing importance to scientific research and for industry. Its use is growing by the day as is the Photonex exhibition.

Xmark Media, the organisers of Photonex, is reporting that there will be a larger exhibit this year and the increasing diversity of exhibitors ensures the event continues to be attractive to visitors from widely different industries - continue reading online>

Xenics and Stemmer Imaging announce the smallest SWIR line-scan camera

Xenics announces its very-high-resolution uncooled SWIR line-scan camera series Lynx with either GigE or CLinterface in the smallest form factor ever seen. The camera offers up to 2048 pixels and frame rates up to 40 kHz. Lynx targets - read on>

There are many presentations and meetings to attend as well as the exhibition. Why not mark your diary now?

Through the generous support of exhibitors & sponsors at Photonex, this year's conference is completely free-of-charge.

Here is a selection of meetings at this year's conference. Please get in touch with the organiser of a specific programme if you wish to offer an oral presentation or poster.

High Power Diode Lasers and Systems
This event is the fifth to be held at PHOTONEX. It will feature outstanding work from industry, research institutes and universities, with contributions from the EU FP7 BRIDLE consortium.

The importance of this event is reflected in the continued growth in attendance and in the participation of international leaders in the field from industry and research institutes/academia.

Nano and Bio-Imaging - latest developments in biophotonics
Researchers are continually looking for better ways to analyse complex processes and photonics underpins many of the most promising approaches for medical diagnosis, drug development & life science applications.

The conference focuses on imaging on the nano-scale as widely used in the chemical and biological sciences. It is expected that attendees will be attracted from far and wide to listen, connect and network with leaders in photonics from the UK’s vibrant nano-bio community.

Join us for the free meeting to explore advances in key methods and techniques used in life sciences.

Optical Engineering & Design III
At this meeting there will be presentations on subjects of relevance to designers of components, instruments and users of photonics equipment. The most common software constraints, design issues and manufacturing problems will be discussed.

There are several software programs that are available for designing an optical system: But how has the software changed in recent years? Presentations from leading software designers and suppliers will address these important questions.

Optical Metrology 2013
Optical methods are increasingly being used to perform high accuracy measurements in aerospace, automotive and precision manufacturing. One factor is industry's need for higher quality and increased production monitoring. It is also driven by technological developments in optical sources, detectors, computing power and electronics.

This meeting will bring together leaders in industry, research institutes and universities to discuss the latest technology developments and new applications in optical metrology.

Functional Thin Films
This one-day meeting will bring together scientists and technologists with expertise in the production and characterisation of functional thin films, materials, optical thin films and integrated devices. The programme will have a broad spectrum of scientific and industrial applications, with the aim of sharing knowledge, ideas and experiences.

The conference comprises a programme of invited speakers, contributed papers, a poster session and will allow time for delegates to network with others and to visit the exhibition.

Should YOU consider exhibiting at Photonex 2013?

You can easily get involved and now is the time to plan your participation. It is our intention to make it possible for even the smallest company to be able to afford to participate. We offer a wide selection of shell scheme exhibiting packages and tabletop display options.
