In order to increase their presence in the UK marketplace Precitec Optronik GmbH of Rodgau, Germany have appointed Armstrong Optical Ltd of Northampton to represent them for their range of 3D surface profiling systems and sensors for thickness measurement.
Precitec Optronik have become well established in the marketplace and offer a range of sensor systems utilising the chromatic confocal technique for both non-contact profiling and thickness measurement. Whilst normally utilising white light, Precitec Optronik have extended the range of measurements available by introducing near-IR light sources. This now allows the thickness of such materials as silicon and gallium arsenide (commonly used as semiconductor substrates) to be easily measured.
The sensor systems are available as either OEM units that can be integrated into machine tools to measure such features as glass thickness and shape, or as stand-alone 3D measuring instruments for off-line topographic and measurment studies.
The addition of the Precitec Optronik products and services is ideal for Armstrong Optical Ltd as it compliments the other measurement capabilities (optical performance, vibration, temperature etc) within their expanding product portfolio whilst remaining within their core competency of optical metrology.
